Digital youth

Trough the eyes of a participant

In November the project Digital youth, design, learn, share was held, as a project to prepare youth for their professional lives trough introducing helpful digital tools. This project was held in Izmir, Turkey by the Turkish organization, Genclikak Ademisi. The project was a collaboration between seven countries, Turkey, the Netherlands, Italy, Germany, Greece, Macedonia and Ukraine. During this project, the participants were also introduced to WordPress, They had to learn to use the tools’ trough creating a blog about the project. We decided to add this to the existing Peace by Paint website.

I participated in this project both as a participant and a partner, of the Dutch team. Because our informal group is young, I found it important to experience the project myself and take on some small responsibilities. It was a great opportunity for me to gain experience and confidence in creating community, it went really natural, through jokes and light-heartedness I was able to gain respect, and through constructive feedback and shouting Marco Polo I helped create order. This was not my task for the project, but it went so naturally. I will miss everyone and the great time we had. I took plenty of pictures but now looking back I can see the influence being a partner had on the type of pictures, I took pictures of the project activities to share on social media and during free I took pictures but none of myself.
